About RAR

Roshal Archive (proprietary, decode-only).

RAR is the proprietary archive format from RARLab — encoder is closed-source, but the decoder is freely available and ships inside libarchive. We compile libarchive to WebAssembly so you can list, preview, and extract entries from RAR4 and RAR5 archives entirely in the browser.

FAQ
What is a RAR file?
RAR is a proprietary archive format from RARLab, commonly seen on file-sharing sites and software distributions. Creating RAR archives requires WinRAR, but the unrar code is open source and bundled inside libarchive — which is what powers this viewer.
Is my file uploaded?
No. Files are opened entirely in your browser using local JavaScript and WebAssembly. Nothing is sent to a server.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. The viewer is mobile-first and works on phones, tablets, and desktops.
Are multi-volume or password-protected RARs supported?
Single-file RAR4 and RAR5 archives without encryption work out of the box. Split volumes and password-protected archives are not currently surfaced through the UI.
